At work, I do policy thinking and projects for InternetNZ. I have also worked in private practice, advising New Zealand businesses on intellectual property issues, and at a university, teaching legal ethics and critical thinking.
Outside work, I do improvised theater with the Covert Theatre and help people in legal, policy, and technology worlds listen to each other. It’s a challenge making my personal life as nerdy as my work, but I’m trying my best.
Enactivity
As part of the Better Rules Hack in May 2018, I worked with a team to make NZ legislation trackable through version-control. The project webpage has more info.
NZ Gazette Tweeter
My team at InternetNZ built a proof-of-concept tweet-bot, to automatically put items from the NZ Gazette on Twitter. You can find it at @PublicNoticesNZ, more detail on InternetNZ’s blog, and the source code on GitHub if you’d like to improve it!
I helped with get the first version running, but what’s online now is much more polished thanks to good work from Nicola and Dean. I’m both delighted and terrified to have code I wrote running on the Internet.
